The origin of Origins

Recently I finished reading “Evolution, Religion and the Unknown God” by Georges Van Vrekhem. This is a slightly inspired poem on how Darwin came about publishing the Origin of Species, writing which he once thought was like confessing murder.
As most of my writings, this one too is exaggerated. For the real story I would suggest reading about Albert Wallace and Charles Darwin.

He thought of how it all began
His interpretation of evolution
Just it was not called evolution then
16 years, the established sat unabled
To catch the world unawares
Unprepared to confess the murder
To the Church superiors

One day
On distant lands
An obscure butterfly catcher
A suffering frail man
Amidst bouts of fit
Confessed of a thesis
For how it all began

A short letter
From the unknown
To known
Wrote a part of history
Now only the scholarly see
That small piece of paper
Sent worries and fear
For chances of a sure fame lost

Being of influential stature
Along with his council
(a few facts overlooked)
Proved his seniority
For the thesis that brought
The Monkey among
The creation ultimate

To today
Charles Darwin;
Survival of the famous
His evolution everyone knows
Albert Wallace;
Slightly forgotten
In pages now grows dim and old
