The first thing you notice about Armstrong Redwoods is how quiet the place is and second, why did you not get here any sooner!
It is located near a small town called Guerneville and it’s quite a drive from Bay Area. The only reason we ended up at Armstrong is because we were exploring Sonoma that day and it’s just an hour north of it.
Now that I know what a beautiful place it is, my husband was especially impressed, it is totally the kind of place you should make the drive for.
Only one tip, don’t wear your good black suede boots
.
I think the oldest tree there right now is called “Colonel Armstrong” and it’s 1400 years old but look at this fallen guy, it was germinated in 948!
The trees are really really tall (like all redwoods are) and just so majestic. The canopy is so thick that at 4 in the afternoon there was hardly any light shining through.
You are of course encouraged to stay on the path so not to disturb the delicate ecosystem.
If you want to learn more about the ecosystem, there is a big sign at the entrance that tells you about the kind of animals/reptiles that live here and how they interact with each other.
After this trip I can not wait to go to Redwood national park!
Thanks for reading.

Now that’s a nice park!
They should have named it Brigadier Armstrong. :-/
why not General Armstrong then?
I like “brigadier” that’s why.
If you want to promote it further. I would prefer Field Marshall or Generalissimo.
These sound better. General sounds general.
